Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Turn the engine control switch to the OFF/RESET position.
- Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

- Disconnect two tube assemblies (8) from exhaust elbow (1).
- Remove bolts (2) and the washers. Remove bracket (3).
- Remove bolts (6), the washers, and bracket (7).
- Remove nuts (5) and the washers from the turbochargers on both sides of exhaust elbow (1). Remove bolts (9).

- Remove tube assembly (11) from exhaust elbow (1).
- Remove bolts (13).
- Remove exhaust elbow (1) and the gaskets from the engine.

- Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to exhaust elbow (1). The weight of exhaust elbow (1) is approximately
40 kg (87 lb) . Place the gaskets and exhaust elbow (1) in position.Show/hide tableIllustration 6 g01681675 - Install bolts (13).
- Install tube assembly (11) on exhaust elbow (1).
- Connect tube assembly (14) and tube assembly (12) to the exhaust bypass.

Illustration 8 g01681614 - Ensure that the gaskets between the adapters and exhaust elbow (1) are positioned correctly. Install bolts (9), the washers, and nuts (5).
- Position bracket (7) and install the washers and bolts (6).
- Position bracket (3). Install the washers, and bolts (2).
- Connect two tube assemblies (8) to exhaust elbow (1).
- Connect harness assembly (4).
- Fill the cooling system to the correct level with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
- Turn the engine control switch to the AUTO or START position.
