(3) Tee

(4) Intake hose of the ARD purge air pump

(5) Air compressor

(6) Air Filter Element

(7) ARD purge air pump

  1. Cut the intake hose (1) to the air compressor. The cut must be 305 mm (12 inches) from the tee (3) .

  1. Slide one 8T-1117 Hose Clamp above the cut and one 8T-1117 Hose Clamp below the cut.

  1. Insert 319-6188 Tee (2) into the cut area of hose (1) that is connected to the intake of the air compressor (5). Slide the clamps into position. Tighten the clamps.

  1. Remove the flexible hose (4). Keep the hose if Step 6.c is applicable.

  1. Install a new 5P-1442 Hose from the inlet of the ARD purge air pump (7) onto the opening that is located on the side of the 319-6188 Tee (2). Approximately 610 mm (24 inches) of hose will be needed. This approximation depends on the location of the tee. Use new 109-1145 Hose Clamps at each end and tighten the clamps.

  1. The open port of tee (3) must be sealed. Use one of the following procedures in order to seal the port:

Note: Use the following procedure for the listed serial numbers C15 S/N:SDP719-6890 and ; S/N:B5R156-234.

    1. Remove intake hose (1) from tee (3). Replace tee (3) with a new 247-4602 Elbow . Refer to the parts list in Table 1. Assemble intake hose (1) onto the elbow. Position the hose clamp. Tighten the hose clamp.

      Tee (3)

      Tee with hex fitting (8)

Note: Use the following procedure for the listed serial numbers C13 S/N:LEE5515-9000, C15 S/N:SDP6891-11000 and ; S/N:B5R235-266 .

    1. Perform this step if tee (3) has hex fitting (8). Refer to the parts list in Table 2. Remove hex fitting (8) from tee (3). Install 9S-8004 O-Ring Plug and 153-4906 O-Ring Seal into the open port of tee (3). Refer to Illustration 2.

      (3) Tee

      (9) Tee without hex fitting

      (10) Hose Clamp

      (11) Hose

      (12) Plug

Note: Use the following procedure for the listed serial numbers C13 S/N:LEE815-5514.

    1. Perform this step for tee (3) without hex fitting (9). Refer to the parts list in Table 3. Cut a section of the used 5P-1442 Hose (4) 70 mm (2.75 inch) in length. Ensure that the cut is square and clean. On one end of the 70 mm (2.75 inch) hose install the 9S-5518 Plug (12). Secure the plug in the hose with a 109-1145 Hose Clamp (10). Slide the other end of the 70 mm (2.75 inch) hose over the end of tee (3) without hex fitting (9). Secure the hose (11) with a 109-1145 Hose Clamp (10). Refer to Illustration 3.

  1. If the engine has been in service check the "Dead Head "pressure on the ARD purge air pump. Refer to Troubleshooting, RENR9343, "ARD Nozzle - Test" Step 1 for the details. If the air pressure is less than 450 kPa (65 psi) or if the air pressure is greater than 655 kPa (95 psi) replace the 304-9994 Air Pump Gp (ARD PURGE) .

  1. If the 304-9994 Air Pump Gp (ARD PURGE) is replaced then the 299-7553 Air Filter Element (ARD PURGE) (6) must be replaced. If the 304-9994 Air Pump Gp (ARD PURGE) is not replaced and oil is leaking from the 299-7553 Air Filter As (ARD PURGE), replace the 299-7553 Air Filter As (ARD PURGE) .

  1. Clean out the line from the outlet (13) of the ARD purge air pump to the in-line check valve (14) .

  1. Remove any oil from the nozzle. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU8087, "ARD Nozzle - Clean".
