Valve Mechanism - Remove

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the valve cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Cover Base - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


    Note: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "General Information (Reference Material)" for more information.

  1. Remove bolts (1) that hold rocker arm assembly (2). Remove rocker arm assembly (2). Use a paint stick to place identification marks on the rocker arm assembly so that the rocker arm assembly can be installed in the same location.

  1. Use a paint stick to place identification marks on pushrods (4) for assembly purposes and remove pushrods (4) .

  1. Remove valve bridges (3). Identify the location of each valve bridge so that the valve bridges can be installed in the same location.

  1. Inspect the bore of each valve bridge for roughness or wear. Be sure that the passage for lubrication in the valve bridge is not restricted.

  1. Inspect bridge dowels (5) for roughness or wear. If removal of the bridge dowel is necessary, refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cylinder Head - Disassemble".
