Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.
Problem
Certain 0R-8849 Cylinder Head Gp were built with the incorrect valve seats. The incorrect valve seats will cause the piston to contact the valve.
Solution
Remove all 0R-8849 Cylinder Head Gp in parts stock with a date code 1October 2006 through 8August 2007 that satisfy the conditions below.
Note: The date code is located on the part number tag on the outside of the box. The date code appears as DDMMYY. For example D01M10Y06 is 1October 2006.
- Remove all 0R-7907 Cylinder Block Gp and 0R-9904 Cylinder Block Gp with date codes of 1October 2006 and 8August 2007 that satisfy the conditions below.
- Remove all remanufactured BES2078-2538 that satisfy the conditions below. The 3126 engines are listed in Table 1.

Inspect all 0R-8849 Cylinder Head Gp that have bosses (1). Refer to Illustration 1. Inspect the number for the cylinder head casting at location (2).

Remanufactured engines and remanufactured long blocks that have the original cylinder head casting number ground off and replaced with 205-1270 must be removed from parts stocking.
