Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the purge pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Purge Air Pump (ARD) - Remove and Install".


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the oil into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations".

  1. Remove bolts (1), washers (2), fastener assemblies (3) and remove oil pan (4) .

Installation Procedure

    Note: Ensure that the oil pan and mating surfaces are clean and free of oil.

  1. Apply Tooling (A) at four locations marked (A). Tooling (A) should be applied in 4 ± 1 mm (0.16 ± 0.04 inch) diameter beads.

    Note: All joints using Tooling (A) must be assembled within ten minutes of the application.

  1. Install fastener assemblies (3) and the gasket (not shown) onto oil pan (4) .

    Torque Sequence

  1. Position oil pan (4), washers (2), and bolts (1) into place.

  1. Tighten bolts (1) in the above sequence.

  1. Fill the engine with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations".

End By: Install the purge pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Purge Air Pump (ARD) - Remove and Install".
