Transmission Oil Temperature Is High

Usage:

C18 J2K
Use this procedure in order to troubleshoot high transmission oil temperature. Use this procedure if the following event code is active. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Event Code List" for information about event codes and the default trip points for these codes. You must access the monitoring system on Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) in order to view the current trip points for these codes.

E030(1) High Transmission Oil Temperature  The transmission oil temperature is above the programmed trip point for the specified delay time.  The code is logged. 

Probable Causes

  • Transmission oil level

  • Transmission oil cooler

Recommended Actions

Transmission Oil Level

  1. Check the oil level of the transmission.

  2. If the transmission has an excessive oil level, remove excess oil. Locate the source of the extra oil and make the necessary repairs.

  3. Check for restrictions in the relief valve and make the necessary repairs.

  4. Refer to the service information that is from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for additional information that is related to the operation and the repair of the transmission.

Transmission Oil Cooler

  1. Check for restrictions in the relief valve and make the necessary repairs.

  2. Refer to the service information that is from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for additional information that is related to the operation and the repair of the transmission.
