(1) Left character

(2) Right character

Left character (1) on the two-digit display indicates the maximum requested gear. Right character (2) indicates actual gear.

Note: If the right character flashes N, then the transmission is being locked into Neutral. Press button N and then press D or R in order to exit the mode.

Modes

Economy Mode

Selecting the Economy will change the speed of the transmission shifts in order to provide earlier upshifts. Economy mode will enhance fuel economy.

PTO ON/OFF

Selecting the PTO will enable the control of PTO operation.

Note: This functionality is only available if the PTO is controlled by the transmission ECM.

Hold

When the Hold mode switch is chosen, the transmission shift points will be widened. This action occurs so that the present gear will be held for a longer duration before an upshift or downshift event. When the Hold mode switch is depressed again, the transmission will shift normally.

Quick Gear Limit

The Quick Gear Limit feature utilizes the shift pad MODE switch activation to indicate that the transmission should not upshift beyond first gear. This feature can be used to limit vehicle speed during vehicle maneuvering or stop and go driving during refuse applications. The reverse range may be inhibited during Quick Gear Limiting, if desired. If, the transmission is above second gear the transmission will continue to operate normally until second gear is attained. The upshift will normally be inhibited when this action occurs. Operational conditions that are sufficient to cause the overspeed of the engine in first gear will result. This action will cause an upshift of the transmission to higher gears in order to protect the engine.

Oil Level Check Sequence

The CX28 transmission is equipped with an electronic oil level sensor. This sensor is internal to the transmission in order to make transmission fluid level checking more convenient. To initiate the oil level check sequence, press and hold the upward arrows and downward arrows simultaneously. This action will begin a three minute countdown. Refer to the Illustration. 3

The method for the oil level sensor in determining the proper level compensates for temperature of the transmission fluid. The sensor display and the transmission dipstick may not agree exactly because of the temperature compensation.
