Light Bar Scale - Set

Usage:

D6R II AAX

Introduction

By default, the Light Bar Scales option is available for all configurations of AccuGrade System. Depending on the operator configuration settings for your system, some of the options, soft keys, or views discussed in this manual may not be accessible.

Operate to an on-grade tolerance threshold appropriate for the design surface. The Light Bar Scales dialogs set the vertical and horizontal tolerances that apply to the LEDs on the light bars. The horizontal and vertical light bars are set independently of each other.

Tolerance Thresholds

A tolerance threshold for vertical light bars is the distance off-grade at which two LEDs will be lit. A tolerance threshold for horizontal light bars is the distance off-line at which two LEDs will be lit.

When the blade is on-grade (on-line) to within half the tolerance threshold, only the center green LED on the appropriate light bar is lit. As the blade moves offgrade (off-line), additional LEDs are lit.

Other LED distances are automatically scaled from the tolerance threshold.

The vertical tolerance threshold also determines the on-grade tolerance. The on-grade tolerance is the vertical range where the blade is considered to be on-grade. When the blade is in the on-grade range, the Cut/Fill text items and the associated direction arrow are green.

When the blade is out of the on-grade range, one of the following things will occur:

  • The Cut text item and the down arrow will be red.

  • The Fill text item and the up arrow will be blue.

Setting the Light Bar Scales

In order to set the tolerance thresholds, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Setup Menu – Configuration dialog, press the Down arrow or the Up arrow until "Light Bar Scales" is highlighted.

  1. Press the OK key. Refer to Illustration 1.

  1. In the Light Bar Scales dialogs, press "Vertical" in order to set the vertical light bar scale. Use any of the following tools to edit the vertical tolerance value:

    • If you work in meters, press "Default Set 0.050" to set your tolerance to the default value of 0.050 m. If you work in US FT or feet, press "Default Set 0.200".

    • Use the arrow keys to enter the off-grade distance at which two vertical LEDs are lit. Enter a value between 0 and 3.810 m. The remaining threshold values are calculated automatically and appear in the dialog.

    • Press "Half Set 0.025" to set your tolerance to half of the current tolerance.

    • Press "Double Set 0.100" to set your tolerance to double the current tolerance.

This vertical tolerance value is used as the off-grade limit when automatic controls are turned on. If the cut or fill value at either blade tip exceeds this tolerance for more than three seconds, then the blade will be considered to be off-grade.

  1. Press the "Horizontal" soft key in order to set the horizontal light bar scale. Use any of the following tools to change the horizontal tolerance value:

    • If you work in meters, press "Default Set 0.100" in order to set your tolerance to the default value of "0.100 m". If you work in US FT or feet, press "Default Set 0.400".

    • Use the arrow keys to enter the off-line distance at which two horizontal LEDs are lit. Enter a value between "0" and "7.620 m". The remaining threshold values are calculated automatically and shown in the dialog.

    • Press "Half Set 0.050" to set your tolerance to half of the current tolerance.

    • Press "Double Set 0.200" to set your tolerance to double the current tolerance.

  1. Perform one of the following actions:

    • Press the OK key in order to accept the changes and return to the "Setup Menu – Configuration" dialog.

    • Press the "Esc" key in order to cancel any changes and return to the "Setup Menu – Configuration" dialog. You are asked to confirm that you do not want to save any changes.

After changing the Light Bar Scales dialog, you can change any of the other items in the "Setup Menu – Configuration" dialog before you complete Step 6.

  1. Press the "Esc" key in order to exit the "Setup Menu – Configuration" dialog. The changes take effect immediately.
