Start By:

  1. Remove the grapple. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Grapple - Remove".

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all harness assemblies, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Position boom (1) onto Tooling (A), as shown.

  2. Remove cover (2) from boom (1).

  3. Disconnect hose assemblies (3).

  4. Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to hydraulic rotator (4). The weight of hydraulic rotator (4) is approximately 204 kg (450 lb).

  5. Remove bolts (5).

  6. Use Tooling (C) in order to separate hydraulic rotator (4) from boom (1).

  7. Use the suitable lifting device to lower rotator (4) to the ground.
