Start By:

Remove the secondary steering pump. Refer to Machine Systems Disassembly and Assembly, "Secondary Steering Pump - Remove".

NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contamination of the hydraulic system with foreign material will reduce the service life of the hydraulic system components. To prevent contaminants from entering the hydraulic system, always plug or cap the lines, fittings, or hoses as they are disconnected. Cover any disassembled components and clean them properly before assembly. Clean the hydraulic system properly after any major component exchange or especially after a component failure, to remove any contamination.

Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Install Tooling (B) , Tooling (C) , and a suitable lifting device, as shown. The weight of the transfer gears, the torque converter, the transmission, and the differential is approximately 1950 kg (4300 lb).

Note: Bolts (15) were not removed during the removal procedure.

Position differential (17) to the case.

Install nuts (14) and nuts (16) .

Install the O-ring seal on pin (13) . Install Tooling (A) in the end of pin (13) . Use Tooling (A) in order to install pin (13) .

Measure the length of the pin that is extending past the mounting surface. Subtract 0.05 ± 0.03 mm (0.0020 ± 0.0012 inch) from this measurement in order to determine the amount of shim that is required. As required, install the shims. Install cover (12) .

Install drain plugs (1) and drain plug (2) . Refill the transmission oil and the differential oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities".

Install the secondary steering pump. Refer to Machine Systems Disassembly and Assembly, "Secondary Steering Pump - Install".

Install the cushion-hitch pump. Refer to Machine Systems Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Cushion-Hitch) - Install".

Install the drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".

Install the pump for the hydraulic system and the steering system. Refer to Machine Systems Disassembly and Assembly, "Pump (Hydraulic and Steering) - Install".
