Start By:

  1. Remove the differential and bevel gear. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Differential and Bevel Gear - Remove".

Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

  1. Mount the differential and bevel gear onto Tooling (A) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (2) . Remove retainer (1) and the shims.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (3) from retainer (1) .

  1. Install Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to cover (4) . Remove cover (4) . The weight of cover (4) is approximately 32 kg (70 lb).

  1. Remove O-ring seal (5) from cover (4) .

  1. Install Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device on differential (6) . Remove differential (6) . The weight of differential (6) is approximately 82 kg (180 lb).

  1. Remove bearing cup (7) .

  1. Remove bearing cup (9) and cage (8) from the carrier.

  1. Remove lock (10) .

  1. Remove retainer (13) and the shims from carrier (12) . Remove pinion (14) from carrier (12) .

  1. Remove bearing cup (15) from retainer (13) . Remove O-ring seal (16) from retainer (13) . Remove lip seal (17) from retainer (13) .

  1. Remove bearing cup (18) from carrier (12) .

  1. Install Tooling (C) in order to remove bearing cone (19) from pinion (14) .

  1. Install Tooling (D) in order to remove bearing cone (20) from pinion (14) .

  1. Remove nuts (21) and housing (22) .

  1. Remove clutches (31) and (32) from spider (32A) .

  1. Use two people in order to remove ring gear (34) from housing (22) . The weight of ring gear (34) is approximately 32 kg (70 lb).
