Prelubrication Oil Pump - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Install the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
  2. Connect the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

Note: Install caps and plugs on all openings in order to prevent dirt or debris from entering the system. Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal components.

Note: For easier assembly, mark all hose assemblies, tube assemblies, wire harnesses and cables for identification purposes.

  1. Disconnect two wire harnesses (1) and (2) from prelubrication oil pump (3) at the electrical connections.

  1. Disconnect two hose assemblies (4) and (5) from prelubrication oil pump (3) .

  1. Remove two nuts (6), the washers, and the bolts that secure prelubrication oil pump (3) to the frame. Remove prelubrication oil pump (3) from the machine.

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Note: Verify that all of the components of the prelubrication oil pump are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  1. Position prelubrication oil pump (3) to the machine. Install two nuts (6), the washers, and the bolts that secure prelubrication oil pump (3) to the frame.

  1. Connect two hose assemblies (4) and (5) to prelubrication oil pump (3) .

  1. Connect two wire harnesses (1) and (2) to prelubrication oil pump (3) at the electrical connections.

End By:

  1. Separate the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect".
  2. Remove the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
