Assembly Procedure

1. Check all O-ring seals, all backup rings and wear ring (8) for wear or for damage. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

2. Install wear ring (8) and seal assembly (6) on piston (9).

3. Install O-ring seal (5) and the backup ring on sleeve (7).

4. Install O-ring seals (3) and (4) and the backup rings on head (2).

5. Use a press to install piston (9) and sleeve (7) in the accumulator. Only press the sleeve into the accumulator so that head (2) can be screwed into the accumulator.

6. Put clean 5P-0960 Multipurpose Grease on the threads in the accumulator and on the head. Install head (2) on the accumulator. Tighten the head to a torque of 600 ± 130 N·m (440 ± 96 lb ft).

7. Install valve assembly (1) in head (2). Tighten valve assembly (1) to a torque of 50 ± 9 N·m (37 ± 7 lb ft).
