Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the valve mechanism cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Disconnect harness assembly (1) .

- Disconnect harness assemblies (2) .

- Remove the bolts and valve mechanism cover base (3) .
Installation Procedure

- Ensure that the mating surface of valve mechanism cover base (3) and the cylinder head is thoroughly clean.

- Cut the seal for valve mechanism cover base (3) to the proper length. Apply Tooling (A) on both sides of the seal joint.
- Position valve mechanism cover base (3) on the cylinder head and connect harness assemblies (2) .
- Install the bolts for valve mechanism cover base (3). Tighten the bolts for valve mechanism cover base (3) in a numerical sequence to a torque of 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Connect harness assembly (1) .
