SUBJECT: Acceleration or Deceleration Switch May Stick on 185-1106 or 208-6100 Handles Used on the Transmission/Steering Joystick.
PROBLEM:
Reports from the field indicate that the acceleration or deceleration switches may stick, leading to one or more of the following symptoms:
- Logged service codes of CID 1701 FMI 02 (acceleration switch) or CID 1702 FMI 02 (deceleration switch).
- Transmission stuck in 1st or 2nd gear.
- Transmission will not up shift.
- Transmission will not down shift.
SOLUTION:
Caterpillar engineering is aware of this problem and a solution is being investigated. In the meantime, follow this procedure to correct a sticking problem in lieu of, or prior to, replacing the handle.
1. Remove any clear plastic shipping wrap on the handle. This wrap can cause the switch to stick.
