Optional Seat Parts
If a new seat and suspension are needed, order the following components:
NOTE: The above seat is from a Caterpillar machine which does not use seat mounted controls and is configured without the seat mounted controls bracket. This seat uses the lower fabricated spacer (new seat) above.
If the original seat and suspension are in good condition and can be reused, use the procedure below.
Cut off the mounting arms of the seat mount controls bracket (Aluminum casting between the seat and suspension) flush with the seat to allow installation of the floor mounted brackets. This seat uses the lower plate spacer (original seat) above.
If there are complaints of cushion comfort, a thicker bottom cushion can be used on either the new or original seat. Use:
- 1 - 128-7388 Seat Cushion
- 1. Remove the seat. Remove the plastic and controls from the seat.
- 2. Place the right and left brackets on the floor of the cab over the original seat locations. Align the bottom holes of the bracket to the threaded holes for the seat mounting on the cab floor.
- 3. Place the appropriate lower plate or fabricated spacer on top of the brackets.
- 4. Position the seat suspension on the spacer and brackets. Use four 6V-7730 Bolts and four 7X-0575 Washers to mount the components to the cab.
- 5. Mount the controls to the brackets using twelve 1D-4704 Bolts, twelve 2K-4973 Nuts, and six 5K-1928 Spacers. Mount the bolts from the inside out. The spacers are positioned between the brackets and the controls casting. Install the locknuts.
