Cracking Of Non-Metallic Roof Caterpillar

Cracking Of Non-Metallic Roof

Usage:

TRACK-TYPE LOADERS953C (2ZN1750-Up) TRACK-TYPE LOADERS

Problem:

A non-metallic material has been used for the 153-3464 Roof. Due to the small radius of the corner bends, stress concentrations are resulting in cracking and failure of the roof.

Solution:

The situation is currently being assessed in order to modify the roof design so that the above condition no longer exists. The new design must be completed and tested to ensure the problem is resolved. The estimated time of availability is approximately three months.

The roof is not a critical component for the operation of the machine. Therefore, it is suggested that no replacement of a failed roof should occur at this time. Instead, the roof should be replaced once the new design is complete and available. A Service Letter will be issued when the new roof is available. It is suggested that any current orders for this roof be cancelled and a new order submitted when the new design is available.
