PROBLEM
The Machine Security System Keypad needs to be replaced on certain 910K and 914K Compact Wheel Loaders. The existing Machine Security System Keypad #1/#2 button can fail, which may result in the machine not starting. |

1. Position the machine on firm level ground, engage park brake and isolate machine. |
2. Remove the front sun visor. Refer to Image1.3.1. |

3. Remove the radio (if installed) using the "Radio Removal Aid", supplied with the machine, along with the Radio Owner's Manual, and disconnect the radio from the roof harness. |

4. Remove the interior light and disconnect from the roof harness. Refer to Image1.5.1. |

5. Remove the interior rear view mirror from the mounting bracket. Refer to Image1.6.1. |

6. Remove the 398-8836 screws from the Machine Security System (MSS) keypad face plate. Retain screws for later use. Refer to Image1.7.1. |

7. Remove the headliner from the roof fixing points (8 in total). As you lower the headliner, disconnect the internal speaker connection to the roof harness, (and if installed feed the rear sun visor through the opening the headliner). Refer to Image1.8.1. Note: The speakers are mounted to the headliner. |

8. Remove the cable straps securing MSS harness to the roof structure / roof harness. Refer to Image1.9.1. Note: Removing these cable straps may cause the roof harness to sag. |

9. Disconnect the MSS plug from the main cab harness. Refer to Image1.10.1. |

10. Push the MSS harness connector into the lower cab B-post. Refer to Image1.11.1. |

11. Pull the MSS harness up through the cab B-post via the upper access hole. Refer to Image1.12.1. |

12. Remove the 3S-2093 Cable Strap securing ferrite to the MSS keypad mounting bracket. Refer to Image1.13.1. |

13. Remove the 396-2499 MSS Keypad from the mounting bracket. |
14. Repeat Steps 2 to 13 in reverse order to install new 396-2499 MSS Keypad. Use 3S-2093 Cable Straps to secure MSS harness to the roof structure / roof harness. |
15. Turn on the battery disconnect switch. |
16. Once the new MSS keypad is installed, perform SEHS0581, Special Instruction, "Set up Procedure for the Antitheft Security Keypad on Certain Compact Wheel Loaders". |
