E053 Low Fuel Pressure Warning
Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the following condition:
- Fuel pressure is below 200 kPa (29 psi) for more than ten seconds.
System Response:
The ECM will log the event.
Test Step 1. Test the Fuel System
- Check the fuel level.
- Check the fuel pressure. Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Fuel System Pressure - Test".
- Check for the presence of air in the low pressure fuel system. Refer to Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Air in Fuel - Test".
- Ensure that the low pressure fuel system is properly primed. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime".
- Check for fuel supply lines that are restricted.
- Check the fuel filters for plugging.
- Cold weather adversely affects the characteristics of the fuel. Refer to the applicable Operation and Maintenance Manual for information on improving the characteristics of the fuel during cold weather operation.
Expected Result:
The fuel system is operating correctly.
Results:
- OK - The fuel system is OK.
Repair: There may be a problem with the fuel pressure sensor. Refer to Troubleshooting, "Engine Sensor Open/Short Circuit - Test".
STOP
- Not OK - A problem has been identified with the low pressure fuel system.
Repair: Repair the problem. Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.
STOP
