Start By:
- Remove the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Remove".
- Remove the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".

- Remove bolts (1) that fasten the engine oil pan to flywheel housing (2).

- Remove gasket (4) from the flywheel housing.

- Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device on flywheel housing (2). The weight of flywheel housing (2) is approximately
80 kg (175 lb) . - Install gasket (4) on the dowel pins of the cylinder block. Apply Tooling (B) to the bottom of gasket (4) in order to fill the space at the cylinder block, the flywheel housing, and the engine oil pan.
- Position flywheel housing (2) on the cylinder block. Install bolts (3) and remove Tooling (A).

- In a numerical sequence, tighten Bolt (1) through Bolt (9) to a torque of
100 ± 20 N·m (30 ± 15 lb ft) . - In a numerical sequence, tighten Bolt (10) through Bolt (24) to a torque of
40 ± 10 N·m (30 ± 7 lb ft) . - In a numerical sequence, again tighten Bolt (1) through Bolt (9) to a torque of
135 ± 20 N·m (100 ± 15 lb ft) . - In a numerical sequence, again tighten Bolt (10) through Bolt (24) to a torque of
55 ± 10 N·m (40 ± 7 lb ft) .

- Install bolts (1) that fasten the engine oil pan to flywheel housing (2).
Note: Thoroughly clean the flywheel housing and the rear face of the cylinder block. These components must be free of the following substances: oil, fuel, water, gasket adhesive, assembly compounds, and any other foreign material.
