Start By:

  1. Remove the auxiliary water pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Auxiliary Water Pump - Remove" for the engine that is being serviced.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

    Note: Place identification marks on body (4) and housing (1) for use at assembly.

  1. Remove elbow (2) and the pipe nipple from housing (1).

  2. Remove nuts (3), the lockwashers, body (4), and the gaskets from housing (1).

  3. Remove nut (5), the washer, and gear (6) from the shaft.

  4. Remove key (7) and spacer (8) from the shaft.

  5. Use Tooling (A) in order to remove snap ring (9).

  6. Remove locknut (10) that holds impeller (11) in place.

    Note: The locknut has left hand thread.

  7. Remove impeller (11).

    Note: Impeller (11) has left hand thread.

  8. Remove the shims, the spring retainer, and spring (12).

  9. Install 3/8"-16 left hand thread locknut even with the end of the shaft.

  10. Place body (4) in position in a press. Use Tooling (B) in order to loosen silicon carbide seal assembly (13) from the shaft.

  11. Remove key (14), the shims, and seal assembly (13).

  12. Turn over pump body (4) and remove shaft (15) and the bearings as a unit.

  13. Use Tooling (C) in order to remove snap ring (16) from shaft (15).

  14. Place shaft (15) and bearings (17) in a press on Tooling (D). Use the press in order to push shaft (15) from bearings (17) and the spacer.

  15. Remove silicon carbide ring (18) and the seal.

  16. Remove slinger (19).

  17. Remove seal (20) from body (4).
