A new Drain Valve Group is available for the engines that are listed above. Condensate can develop in the air plenum of engines that operate in areas of high relative humidity and high dew points. The drain valve group is an automatic valve that drains condensate out of the air plenum. The drain valve group requires a customer connection. The customer connection should be appropriate for oily water.
The drain valve group is installed on the vee engine by bolting the bracket for the drain valve to the crankcase covers. The port connector is threaded into the drain for the air plenum that is on the cylinder block. The drain for the air plenum is located on the cylinder block below the number fifteen rear cam journal on the 3616. The drain for the air plenum is located on the cylinder block below the number eleven rear cam journal on the 3612. The drain valve group is installed on the in-line engine by bolting the bracket for the drain valve to the crankcase covers. The port connector is threaded into the drain for the air plenum that is on the cylinder block. The drain for the air plenum is located on the cylinder block on the same side of the engine as the aftercooler at both the front and the rear of the air plenum.
The new 228-6505 Drain Valve Group is available as an option on the engine models that are listed above. The 228-6505 Drain Valve Group is not available for parts service. Order the individual components for parts service. Refer to Illustration 1 and Table 1 for the required parts.
