PROBLEM
The fan mounting hardware needs to be replaced on certain 993K Wheel Loaders that are equipped with the high ambient cooling arrangement. The existing bolt can loosen or fracture, causing the fan to separate from the fan motor. |

ACTION REQUIRED
1. Remove the hydraulic fan and motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, KENR5813, "Fan and Piston Motor (Hydraulic Fan) - Remove". 2. Remove and discard the 7X-2554 Bolt, 7X-0540 Washer and 198-4780 Washer. 3. Fabricate a new mounting plate per Image 1. Use T1 steel (650 MPa yield strength) or equivalent. 4. Apply a small amount of Red Loctite-271 (CAT Part Number 155-0695) inside the motor shaft hole. Attach the fan to the adaptor using the 7X-2555 Bolt, the new mounting plate and 171-3010 Washer. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 240 Nm. Refer to Image 2. 5. Install the hydraulic fan and motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, KENR5813, "Fan and Piston Motor (Hydraulic Fan) - Install". |
