- Turn OFF the monitoring system's power supply.
Bodily contact with electrical potential can cause bodily injury or death. To avoid the possibility of injury or death, ensure that the main power supply has been disconnected before performing any maintenance or removing any modules. |
- Unscrew retaining bolt (1) and disconnect receptacle's housing (2) from plug (3) .
Illustration 3 | g00873306 |

- Loosen retaining nut (4). The mating surface of receptacle (5) has a slot in a corner that is identified "LIFT". Insert a small screwdriver into the slot and carefully pry the receptacle away from housing (2). Carefully slide the housing away from the receptacle and pull the receptacle out of the housing in order to access the wires that are attached to the receptacle's terminals.
Note: The terminals are identified on the mating surface of the receptacle.

- Disconnect the wire from the receptacle's terminal 2. Connect the positive "+" lead of the multimeter to terminal 2 on the receptacle. Connect the negative "-" lead of the multimeter to the disconnected wire. Set the multimeter to the "mA" scale.
Note: If you are using a test bench, be sure to install a resistor with 200 to 250 ohms of resistance between the transducer's output wiring and the ammeter.
- Turn isolation valve (6) in order to isolate the transducer from the pressure.

- Slowly loosen nut (7) in order to purge the residual pressure from the transducer. Remove the nut. Connect the 1U-5230 Hand Hydraulic Pump to the port. Use a tee in the air hose for the 198-4240 Pressure Indicator Tool Gp (Digital).
Note: If a tee is not available for the 198-4240 Pressure Indicator Tool Gp (Digital), remove the engine oil pressure line from the bottom of the contactor's mounting block. In this case, connect the 1U-5230 Hand Hydraulic Pump to the port for the engine oil pressure line. Connect the 198-4240 Pressure Indicator Tool Gp (Digital) to the port for nut (7). Turn isolation valve (6) to the position for normal operation.
- Turn ON the monitoring system's power supply.
- Apply pressure that corresponds to 4 mA. Refer to Table 2.

- Observe the ammeter and adjust the transducer's "ZERO" potentiometer until the reading on the ammeter is 4 mA.
Illustration 7 | g00868685 |
Transducer's "ZERO" and "SPAN" potentiometers |
- Apply the pressure that corresponds to 20 mA. Refer to Table 2.
Note: If the pressure that corresponds to 20 mA cannot be achieved, apply the maximum available pressure. Refer to Table 2 for that pressure's corresponding current in mA.
- Observe the ammeter and adjust the transducer's "SPAN" potentiometer until the reading on the ammeter is 20 mA.
Note: If the pressure that corresponds to 20 mA cannot be achieved, adjust the transducer's "SPAN" potentiometer until the reading on the ammeter matches the available pressure's corresponding current that is listed in Table 2.
- Observe the ammeter and apply pressure that corresponds to 4 mA. Verify that the reading on the ammeter is 4 mA.
If the reading on the ammeter is not 4 mA, repeat Steps 9 through 13.
- After the readings on the ammeter agree with the corresponding pressures that are listed in Table 2, turn OFF the power to the monitoring system. Remove the ammeter.
- Purge any residual pressure from the pressurizing pump and remove the pressurizing pump. Replace cap (8). Install nut (7). Turn isolation valve (6) to the position for normal operation.
- Reconnect the loose wire to terminal 2 on receptacle (5). Insert the receptacle into housing (2). Make sure that the receptacle locks into the housing. Tighten retaining nut (4). Connect the receptacle to plug (3). Secure the connection with retaining bolt (1) .
