Obtain an oil sample from the front axle by removing the filler plug and taking the sample directly from the axle housing. Refer to Special Publication, SEBU6250, "Caterpillar Machine Fluids Recommendations", "S·O·S Oil Analysis" for information that pertains to obtaining an oil sample from the front axle housing. Refer to Special Publication, PEHP6001, "How To Take A Good Oil Sample" for more information about obtaining an oil sample from the front axle housing.
