Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the coolant system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations".

- Remove tube assemblies (4) and (5).
- Remove elbow (7).
- Disconnect riser (6).
- Attach a suitable lifting device to exhaust manifold (3). The weight of the exhaust manifold is approximately
31 kg (68 lb) . - Remove nuts (2).
- Remove exhaust manifold (3) and the gaskets.

- Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of the studs before assembly.
- Install the exhaust manifold gaskets on the studs.

Illustration 2 g01082518 Show/hide tableIllustration 3 g00538666 - Use a suitable lifting device in order to position exhaust manifold (3) on the engine. Install gaskets between riser (6) and exhaust manifold (3) and elbow (7). The weight of the exhaust manifold is approximately
31 kg (68 lb) . - Install nuts (2). In numerical order, tighten nuts 1 through 12. Tighten nuts to a torque of
38 ± 5 N·m (28 ± 4 lb ft) . - Connect riser (6).
- Install elbow (7).
- Install tube assemblies (4) and (5).
- Install tube (1).
- Fill the coolant system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations".
