Be Sure To Check The Counterweights On The Engine Crankshaft For Counterweight Sequence Numbers {1231}

Usage:

3512 1LM
Engines: Commercial
  • 3500 Family All
  • Reference: See the Engine News, SEPD9295, March 2001, "Recommended Procedure For Lubricating And Tightening The Bolts That Fasten The Counterweights To The Crankshaft" for more information.

    Some of the 3500 Engines that are in the machines that are identified above may not have counterweight sequence numbers on the crankshaft counterweights.

    Before you remove a crankshaft counterweight, you should be sure that the counterweight sequence number is on the counterweight. If the sequence number is not legible, mark the sequence number on the counterweight. The counterweights should be numbered in sequence. These sequence numbers start at the end of the crankshaft that is marked "FRT STD". See the illustration. Always reinstall the counterweight in the counterweight's original position.
