The new 305-4908 Idler Pulley is available for the replacement of the former 294-1782 Idler Pulley or the former 183-8236 Idler Pulley Gp. The idler pulley is part of the pulley gp on the engine.

The new idler pulley has added a cover that protects the bearings from dirt and water. The new idler pulley also adds a rubber ring in order to protect the bearings. The strength is increased for the pulley shaft on bracket (G). The new idler pulley has increased durability. Refer to Illustration 1 for the components in the new idler pulley.

Typical Engine Pulley Group

(1) 305-4908 Idler Pulley

Install a new 305-4908 Idler Pulley if the bearings in the former idler pulley fail or if the fan drive belt squeals. Refer to Illustration 2 for the location of the idler pulley.

Note: Tighten the bolt in the new idler pulley to a torque of 33 ± 3.3 N·m (24 ± 2.5 lb ft).
