Disassembly Procedure For The Track Carrier Roller On CIPI Undercarriage Arrangements Which Are Based On 325 and 325B Track Type Excavators
Start By:
- Remove the track carrier rollers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Carrier Roller - Remove" in this manual.
Note: For additional information on the disassembly of track carrier rollers, refer to Undercarriage Reconditioning Bulletin, SEBF8599.
- Thoroughly clean the outside of the track carrier roller prior to disassembly.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

- Remove plug (2) .
Note: There are two types of track carrier rollers: The track carrier rollers are welded or the track carrier rollers are cast. The track carrier rollers that are welded have a weld bead and the track carrier rollers that are cast will have no welds.
- Drain the oil from the track carrier roller into a suitable container for disposal.
- For track carrier rollers on CIPI undercarriage arrangements which are based on 325 track type excavators, the capacity of the welded track carrier roller is 180 ± 10 mL (6.12 ± 0.34 oz).
- For track carrier rollers on CIPI undercarriage arrangements which are based on 325B track type excavators, the capacity of the welded track carrier roller is 120 ± 5 mL (4.08 ± 0.17 oz). The capacity of the cast track carrier roller is 85 ± 5 mL (2.89 ± 0.17 oz).
- Remove three socket head bolts (1) and cover (3) from the track carrier roller.

- Remove O-ring seal (4) from cover (3) .

- Remove washer (5) .

- Remove two socket head bolts (6) and retainer (7) from the end of the shaft assembly.

- Carefully remove shaft assembly (8) from the track carrier roller.

- Remove Duo-Cone seal (9) from the track carrier roller.

- Remove Duo-Cone seal (10) from shaft assembly (8) .

- Measure distance "X" on the shaft assembly. Record this dimension for assembly purposes. Use a press to push shaft (8) out of collar (11). Remove the O-ring seal from the inside of the collar.

- Remove bearings (12) and (13) from the track carrier roller.
