Connection Procedure For The Track On CIPI Undercarriage Arrangements Which Are Based On 325 Track Type Excavators

  1. Install Tooling (A) in the track link and on the sprocket, as shown.

  1. Start the machine. Move the sprocket forward until the track assembly is pulled up on the sprocket. Move the sprocket forward until the end of the track assembly is past a vertical line through the center of the sprocket. Remove Tooling (A) .

  1. Install Tool (B) between the first bushing in the track link and the sprocket, as shown.

  1. Move the sprocket forward. Use Tooling (B) to guide the track assembly over the track carrier rollers and the front idler.

  1. Install Tool (C) and pin (1) from Tooling (A) between the track links in the ends of the track assembly, as shown.

  1. Move the track assembly forward or backward until the separation in the track assembly is below a horizontal line through the center of the sprocket.

  1. Install Tool (E) under the track assembly, as shown. Move the machine to the rear and onto Tool (E) until Tool (C) and pin (1) can be removed. Remove Tool (C) and pin (1) .

  1. Move the track assembly slightly forward in order to allow installation of washers (2) and spacers (3). Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease in the bores in the track links. Install washers (2) and spacers (3) in the counterbores, as shown. Use Tool (D) to hold the washers and spacers in place.

  1. Move the machine backward until the spacers and washers are held in place by the track links. Remove Tool (D) .

  1. Install the pilot pin from Tooling (F) into the track assembly. Make sure that the pilot pin is centered in the track links.

  1. Move the track assembly forward until the pilot pin is centered between the two track carrier rollers.

  1. Use Tooling (F) and reinstall the master pin in order to hold the track assembly together.

  1. Use two people to reinstall the two track shoes over the master pin.

  1. Tighten the tension of the track. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Track Adjustment - Adjust" for the correct procedure.

  1. Install Tool (C) and pin (1) from Tooling (A) between the track links in the ends of the track assembly, as shown.

  1. Move the track assembly forward or backward until the separation in the track assembly is below a horizontal line through the center of the sprocket.

  1. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on two track bushings (2). Install the bushings in the track links, as shown. The grease will hold the bushings in place.

  1. Install Tool (D) under the rear of the track assembly, as shown. Move the track assembly backward until the separation in the track assembly closes and the pin bores in both ends of the track assembly are in alignment with each other. The machine might need to be moved back and forth in order to align the pin bores.

  1. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease in the master pin bores in the track assembly and on the master pin. Install the master pin with a hammer. Install the cotter pin in the master pin. Remove Tool (D) from the rear of the track assembly.

  1. If the track shoe on each side of the master pin was removed, reinstall the track shoes. Use Tool (E) to reinstall the track shoe mounting bolts.

  1. Tighten the tension of the track. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Track Adjustment - Adjust" for the correct procedure.

    Typical example

  1. Use a suitable lifting device to raise the front of the track assembly. Install Tooling (D) in position under the track shoe, as shown.

  1. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on two track bushings. Install the bushings in the track links. The grease will hold the bushings in place.

  1. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease in the master pin bores in the track assembly and on the master pin.

  1. Connect the ends of the track assembly. Make sure that the pin bore in each end of the track assembly is aligned with each other.

  1. Install the 5F-9447 Pilot Pin in the track assembly. Make sure that the pilot pin is centered in the track links.

  1. Use Tooling (C) to install the master pin in the track assembly.

  1. Install the cotter pin in the master pin. Remove Tooling (D) from the rear of the track assembly.

    Note: Refer to Special Instruction, "Track - Assembly" for further information regarding Tooling (C) .

  1. If the track shoe on each side of the master pin was removed, reinstall the track shoes. Use Tooling (E) to reinstall the track shoe mounting bolts.

  1. Tighten the tension of the track. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Track Adjustment - Adjust" for the correct procedure.
