Track Roller - Disassemble

Disassembly Procedure For The Track Roller On CIPI Undercarriage Arrangements Which Are Based On 325 and 325B Track Type Excavators

Start By:

  1. Remove the track rollers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track Roller - Remove" in this manual.

Note: For additional information on the disassembly of track rollers, refer to Undercarriage Reconditioning Bulletin, SEBF8599.

  1. Thoroughly clean the outside of the track roller prior to disassembly.


    NOTICE

    Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

    Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

    Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Drive plug (1) into the stopper in the end of the track roller. Drain the oil from the track roller into a suitable container for disposal.

    1. For track rollers on CIPI undercarriage arrangements which are based on 325 track type excavators, the capacity of the track roller is approximately 350 ± 15 mL (11.9 ± 0.51 oz).

    1. For track rollers on CIPI undercarriage arrangements which are based on 325B track type excavators, the capacity of the track roller is approximately 285 ± 15 mL (9.69 ± 0.51 oz).

  1. Put the track roller in a press, as shown. The weight of the track roller is approximately 45 kg (99 lb).

  1. Press downward on end collar (3). Remove snap ring (2) .

  1. Release the pressure on the end collar. Remove end collar (3) .

  1. Remove plug (1) from the inside of the track roller.

  1. Remove Duo-Cone seal (4) from end collar (3) .

  1. Remove the O-ring seal from shaft (5). Remove shaft (5) from track roller (6) .

  1. Remove Duo-Cone seal (9) from end collar (8) .

  1. Remove spring pin (7) from end collar (8) and shaft (5) .

  1. Use a press to remove shaft (5) from end collar (8) .

  1. Remove the remaining O-ring seal from shaft (5). Remove the stopper from the end of the shaft.

  1. Remove Duo-Cone seal (10) from each end of the track roller.

  1. Use a press to remove bearing (11) from each end of the track roller.
