Fuel Priming Pump - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Move the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  1. Open the access door in the center of the hood.

  1. Move the fuel shutoff valve to the OFF position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Shutoff and Drain Control".

  1. Remove bolts (1). Remove fuel priming pump (2) .

  1. Remove the O-ring seal from fuel priming pump (2) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the new O-ring seal into fuel priming pump (2) .

  1. Position fuel priming pump (2). Install bolts (1) .

  1. Move the fuel shutoff valve to the ON position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Shutoff and Drain Control".

  1. Close the access door in the center of the hood.

  1. Move the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
