Combined Function Hydraulic Operation - Ball Valves

Usage:

315B L 5SW
Many hydraulic attachment circuits are adaptable on this machine. Various types of attachments can be installed. Select a suitable arrangement of the hydraulic circuit in order to provide the requirements for flow and the requirements for action for the attachment that is used.

Single action with one pump flow control is available for attachments such as hydraulic hammers. Single action with two pump flow control can also be equipped for attachments that require more hydraulic oil flow. However, Caterpillar does not recommend using two pump flow control with a hydraulic hammer.

A combined function hydraulic system includes attachments for single action and double action. A combined function hydraulic system also includes one pump flow control and two pump flow control. This can be used for attachments such as hydraulic shears.

Note: Before hydraulic attachment circuits are serviced, place the machine in the servicing position and stop the engine.

Place each of the ball valves to the correct position. The correct position is determined by the requirements of the attachment and Table 1. Illustrations 1 through 3 show the location of the ball valves.

Use the manual lever to turn the ball valve. Make sure that you fully turn each ball valve until the ball valve stops.

Never use the manual lever as a step when the manual lever is attached to the ball valve. Remove the manual lever from the valve after the valve is adjusted.

(1) Main pump

(2) Ball valve

(A) One pump flow

(B) Two pump flow

Ball valve (2) controls the main hydraulic line from the pump. With the lever in position (A) , the one pump circuit is operational. When the lever is in position (B) , the two pump circuit is operational. Ball valve (2) is located under main pump (1) .

(4) Boom

(C) DOUBLE ACTION position

(D) SINGLE ACTION position

Ball valve (3) is provided in order to select either circuit. With the lever in position (D) , the single action circuit is operational. With the lever in position (C) , the double action circuit is operational. Ball valve (3) is located on the boom (4) .

(6) Ball valve

(7) Front of machine

(E) One pump flow

(F) Two pump flow

Ball valve (6) controls the one pump flow or two pump flow. This provides additional pump oil to the boom cylinders. With the lever in position (E) , the one pump flow is operational. When the lever is in position (F) , the two pump flow is operational. Ball valve (6) is located to the left of swing drive (5) .

Types of Ball Valves

(a) Lever L = 200 mm (7 7/8 in)

(b) Lever L = 115 mm (4 1/2 in)

Use a manual lever to place each of the ball valves in the correct position.
