Introduction
The 161-0797 Governor Control (Load Share Module) that replaces the previous 131-5459 Governor Control (Load Share Module) is now available.
The previous 131-5459 Governor Control (Load Share Module) was powered by the generator's potential transformers (PT). The module was not powered when the engine and the generator were not running. As a result, the module was unable to provide a desired speed signal to the electronic control module (ECM).
The new control module is powered by the power supply of the engine. Refer to Engine News August for a description of the 161-0797 Governor Control (Load Share Module) .

- Refer to Service Manual, SENR6565, "Generator Set Load Sensor and Load Sharing Module". Review the safety information for the equipment and the operating characteristics of the equipment.
- Verify that the generator set is not running.
- Verify that the generator set is disconnected from all sources of power.
- Tag all connection points of the wires for the 131-5459 Governor Control .
- Disconnect the wires for the 131-5459 Governor Control .
- Remove the 131-5459 Governor Control .
- Install the 161-0797 Governor Control .
- Connect all of the 161-0797 Governor Control Assembly wires.
Note: When possible, the engine and the module should use the same power source (24 VDC). This is not required. If separate power sources are used for the engine and the module, the negative sources should be at the same potential. The speed signal uses pulse width modulation (PWM). The speed signal from the Woodward Load Share Module is isolated.
Note: Do not connect the jumpers that were installed on the following pins of the 131-5459 Governor Control : 15, 16, 17 and 18.
- Connect the 24 VDC to the 161-0797 Governor Control .
- Use the 2N-3475 Screw and use the 9F-8125 Lockwasher to mount fuse block (2) .
Note: A screw hole is located in the subpanel at the back of the EMCP II.
- Connect the wiring. Refer to Illustration 2.
- Secure the wiring with tie straps, as needed.
- Install the fuse in fuse block (2) .
- Adjust the 161-0797 Governor Control . Refer to Service Manual, SENR6565, "Generator Set Load Sensor and Load Sharing Module".
- Verify proper operation.
