The Welds on the Lower Fuel Tank Support Are Improved on the 797F Off-Highway Trucks {0679, 1273, 7050, 7051}

The size of the weld between the lower fuel tank support plate (2) and the frame was increased. The former weld (1) was a 12.0 mm (0.47 inch) fillet weld. The new weld (3) is a 20.0 mm (0.79 inch) fillet weld.

Burr grinding on both toes of the new 20.0 mm (0.79 inch) fillet weld has also been added to the manufacturing process. The two improvements will improve the service life of the welds in the field.

The 152-8052 Plate is the lower fuel tank support. The new weld between the plate and the frame is adaptable to, and became effective in production with the machines listed in Table 1.
