  1. Install shaft seal (43) and retaining ring (42) into main drive pump housing (6).

    Illustration 2g06141984

  2. Use the proper equipment to handle the bearing cup. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (41). Install bearing cup (41).

  3. Install bearings (40) and screws (39). Tighten screws (40) to a torque of 5 ± 1 N·m (44 ± 8 lb in).

    Illustration 3g06142051

  4. Use the proper equipment to handle bearing cone (38). Raise the temperature of bearing cone (38) to a maximum of 121 °C (250 °F). Install bearing cone (38) onto the shaft assembly (36).

    Illustration 4g06141943

  5. Install shaft assembly (36) and spring (37).

  6. Use the following steps to determine the proper preload on the bearings of the pump assembly.

      Illustration 5g06143192

    1. Use the proper equipment to handle the bearing cup. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (30) and install the bearing cup in head assembly (26).

      Illustration 6g06143201

    2. Install bearing cone (31) onto shaft assembly (36).

Assemble the pump without shim (10) to check the preload of bearing cone (7).

      Illustration 7g06143218

    3. Position the head assembly onto the main drive pump housing. Install bolts (25).Tighten bolts (25) to a torque of 205 ± 10 N·m (151 ± 7 lb ft).

      Illustration 8g06143597

    4. Set bearing preload before you install the rotating group. The bearing preload should be 0.00 to 0.05 mm (0.000 to 0.002 inch) .

    5. Install Tooling (E) into shaft assembly (36). Install Tooling (D) onto the pump housing. Use Tooling (D) to determine the end play of shaft (36). Be sure that you move shaft (36) completely in both directions. Use appropriate tools to move shaft (36).

    6. If necessary, grind the adjustment shim to obtain the correct dimension between the head assembly and the main drive pump housing. If necessary, replace the shim with a new part.

    7. The thickness of the shim should equal the end play measurement plus 0.0508 mm (0.00200 inch). For example, if the end play is 2.1590 mm (0.08500 inch) then the shim thickness should be 2.2098 mm (0.08700 inch).

    8. Record the measurement.

    9. If necessary, grind the shim to the determined measurement.

    10. Remove the head assembly from the main drive pump housing. Remove the bearing cone and the adjustment shim from the shaft assembly.

    11. Proceed with the assembly of the main hydraulic pump.

Note: It is necessary to compress spring (37) through hole in pump housing (6) to install swashplate (35).Ensure that spring (37) is installed correctly onto swashplate (35) before continuing the assembly.

  7. Install swashplate (35) into main drive pump housing (6).

  8. Install rotary group (34), shim (33) that was determined in Step 6, and O-ring seals (32).

  9. Install bearing cone (31) into main pump housing (6).

    Illustration 13g06143333

  10. Apply Tooling (F) to the back of port plate (31) and install onto head assembly (26).

  11. Install O-ring seal (29) onto head assembly (26).

    ------ WARNING! ------

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.

  12. Install head assembly (26) and bolts (25). Tighten bolts (25) to a torque of 205 ± 10 N·m (151 ± 7 lb ft).

  13. Install adjustment screw (28) and the O-ring seal. Install cover (27) and the O-ring seal.
