The hydraulic tank is a fabricated steel vessel at the left front of the machine. The tank contains the oil that is used to operate the brakes, the steering, the fan, and the body hoist systems.
The hydraulic tank has supply and return ports for the various machine systems. There is a suction port for the piston pump (brake, hoist, and fan). A suction port for the piston pump (hoist and steering). There is a return port for the pump case drain. Brake system oil is returned to the tank through the return port.
The hydraulic system oil is cleaned by the integral filter housing. The filter housing consists of a cylindrical housing which contains two filter elements. The filter elements are nominal 10 micron. Returning oil is dispersed into the tank by a diffuser that is attached to the base of the screen.
The tank is filled by removing the hydraulic tank cap and proceeding to fill the tank. Oil level can be observed on the sight glass. A breather is attached to the top of the tank to maintain a constant pressure.
