Procedure to Install the Alarm Group on Certain Off-Highway Trucks {1408, 7301}

Usage:

770G ECM
Off-Highway Truck:
770G (S/N: ECM1-UP)
772G (S/N: LTS1-UP)

Introduction

This special instruction provides the necessary information in order to install a new compatible alarm group which eliminates service codes.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.

Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.

Prevent possible injury by performing the procedure that follows before working on the machine.

Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move away from working machines and personnel and lower the buckets or implements (loader and backhoe) and stabilizers to the ground.

Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all other personnel away from machine or in view of the operator.

Engage the parking brake. Stop the engine.

Move the hydraulic control levers to all positions to release the pressure in the hydraulic system.

Procedure to install the new compatible alarm group

Use the following procedure to install the alarm group:

  1. Remove the cover (A) from the front of cab. Retain the hardware.

  1. Remove and discard existing 217-5364 Horn and the hardware.

  1. Install new 3E-6328 Alarm Gp (1) using the 8T-4908 Bolt (2) .

  1. Cut off the blade terminals on the truck harness.

  1. Strip the wire insulation off each wire and crimp 9X-3402 Connector Socket (3) to each wire of the harness wires using the 1U-5804 Crimp Tool .

  1. Insert wires with the new connector socket into 155-2270 Connecting Plug Kit (4) as shown in Illustration 3, making sure to match up the black wire with the corresponding black wire on the new alarm group. Insert the wedge into the connector to hold the connector sockets in place.

  1. Connect the new alarm to the truck harness and secure with a 7K-1181 Cable Strap (5) .

  1. Test for proper operation and troubleshoot as needed.

  1. Install front cover (A) with hardware removed in Step 1.
