New Bolts and Washers Are Used for Oil Scavenge Pumps In 3500 Machine Engines {1312, 7553}

  • Description of Change: The new bolts used for the oil scavenge pump are longer for more thread engagement and have a higher tensile strength.

    Note: For more details refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Scavenge Pump - Install".The 4F-9351 Special Bolt is being replaced with bolt (1) and washer (2) .

    The following procedure covers the installation of the new bolt and washer.

    1. Drain the oil from the engine and oil pan.

    1. Remove the oil pan bolts and oil pan from the engine.

    1. Remove 4F-9351 Special Bolts and replace with bolt (1) and washer (2). Replace one bolt at a time to ensure that the pump stays in alignment and will not have to be removed.

      Note: Do not torque the new bolt and washer until all of the original bolts are replaced.

    1. Torque bolts (1) to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

The new parts are effective in 3500 machine engines built after 26June 2013. The new parts are adaptable for machine engines back to first production.
