Usage:
Changes have been made to the exhaust manifolds and wastegate mounting position on 3500 Spark-Ignited Engines. These changes include the following:
- - Different internal components are used in the manifolds for TA standard (stoichiometric) and low emission engines to provide the correct exhaust energy to the turbochargers.
- - A new wastegate mounting position that moves the wastegate from below the exhaust elbow (horizontal) to in front of the exhaust elbow (vertical). This change moves the centerline of the turbochargers and exhaust elbow to the rear 116 mm (4.56 in).
- - An improved investment casting to mount the turbochargers and provide an exhaust connection for the wastegate replaces the former cast fabricated end casting.
- - A new wastegate mounting position that moves the wastegate from below the exhaust elbow (horizontal) to in front of the exhaust elbow (vertical). This change moves the centerline of the turbochargers and exhaust elbow to the rear 116 mm (4.56 in).
These changes are effective as shown in the chart.
The part numbers for each of these new manifolds are normally stamped on the front exhaust elbow, which is attached to the cylinder head on the engine. Former manifolds had the part number stamped on the rear turbocharger elbow or the front water manifold plate.
It is important that manifolds from standard and low emissions engines NOT be interchanged. While the manifolds look identical from the outside, they use different internal components to provide the correct exhaust energy to the turbochargers. Pay close attention to the part numbers when changing manifolds on your engine.
