Modes of Operation

The AccuGrade System uses the following operating modes:

Normal Mode - Dialogs and options are predefined. The option may only be changed by reverting to Service Mode.

Service Mode - This mode provides access to the configuration screens and to the installation screens.

Training Mode - In this mode, menus and options that are related to control devices are not displayed.

Normal Mode

The AccuGrade System automatically operates in Normal mode when the Display is started.

Perform the following steps in order to start the Display in Normal Mode:

  1. Ensure that the ignition switch is in the ON position.

  1. Press the Power key (2) .

The following soft keys are available when the display is in Normal Mode. This is the default operation.

  • Drum: (Left or Right)

  • Proofing: (On or Off)

When you are in normal mode, the following dialogs can be accessed from the "Setup Menu - Configuration" screen:

  • Select Design

  • Vertical Offset

  • Vertical Setup

  • Horizontal Offset

  • On-Grade Tolerance

  • Display Brightness

  • Calibrate Sensors

  • Map Recording

  • CCV Color Scales

  • Restore Settings

  • Diagnostics

Service Mode


NOTICE

There are many critical system settings that can be changed when the System is in Service Mode. If you lack experience with the AccuGrade System, use extreme care when changing any of the system parameters.


Service Mode allows you to have full access to all available options that are configured for the AccuGrade System.

Service Mode is used to perform the following functions:

  • The mode is used to change the settings that affect the operation of the AccuGrade system.

  • The mode is used to install the AccuGrade system.

Perform the following steps in order to start the Display in Service Mode:

  1. Ensure that the ignition switch is in the ON position.

  1. Press and HOLD the OK key (10) .

  1. While holding the OK key, press the Power key (2) .

    Note: Do not release the OK key at this time.

  1. Release the Power key after a few seconds. The system performs a power up procedure. A "splash" screen appears.

  1. After the splash screen appears, release the OK key.

Note: To configure the system at installation time or for system troubleshooting, start the Display in Service Mode.

The following menus are available in Service Mode:

  • Configuration setup menu: accessed using the "Configuration" soft key

  • Installation setup menu: accessed using the "Installation" soft key


NOTICE

Turn the Display off in order to exit Service Mode after editing the settings or performing tests on the GPS receiver. This ensures that inexperienced users will not inadvertently change the AccuGrade System settings.


Training Mode

Use Training mode in order to simulate the AccuGrade System. This mode is designed as a tool to use for training or for performing a demonstration. This mode will allow you to practice using the system without doing any real construction work.

Perform the following steps in order to start the Display in Training Mode:

  1. Ensure that the ignition switch is in the ON position.

  1. Press and hold down both the Escape key (5) and the Power key (12) .

  1. After a few seconds, release the Power key (12) .

  1. Release the Escape key (5) .

In order to turn off Training Mode, turn off the Display by pressing and holding down the Power key (12) .

In order to turn on Training mode and Service mode at the same time, press and hold down both the Escape key (5) and the OK key (10) as you press the Power key (12) .

Note: Make sure that you hold down the Escape key (5) and the OK key (10) until the opening screen appears on the Display.

Using Training Mode

Training mode allows you to use most of the normal system functions. You cannot perform any of the following functions in this mode:

  • You cannot update the GPS receiver configuration.

  • You cannot view any system diagnostics.

  • You cannot perform any system diagnostics.

Training Mode does not use the signals from a GPS receiver. You can operate Training mode without any other equipment attached to the AccuGrade System. In order to use Training mode, you need the following items:

  • Power supply (12VDC or 24VDC)

  • Data card that contains the design

  • Cable harness

  • AccuGrade Display

Training Mode Hard Keys

Use the keys in Table 1 in order to drive the machine around the screen. This takes some practice as the response of the machine icon is not instantaneous. Press the Arrow keys two or three times in order to see the response.

Up (arrow)     Use this key to speed up the machine if the machine is moving forward. Use this key to slow down the machine if the machine is moving backward.    
Down (arrow)     Use this key to slow down the machine if the machine is moving forward. Use this key to speed up the machine if the machine is moving backward.    
Right (arrow)     Use this key to turn the machine clockwise by a few degrees.    
Left (arrow)     Use this key to turn the machine counterclockwise by a few degrees.    
Escape     This key alternates the arrow keys between moving the machine and panning around the screen.
Panning is faster than moving the machine. Use "panning" in order to look at features on the screen. the background map is an example of a feature. When you are panning, make sure that you turn off Autopan.
