ReferenceSpecial Instruction, REHS4045, "Installing Caterpillar Radios in C Series Compact Track Loaders, Multi Terrain Loaders, and Skid Steer Loaders"

This special instruction provides the information for installing the 337-3991 Radio Installation Gp on the listed machines. Upon completing the installation, the machine will be ready for the installation of a Caterpillar radio.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the 258-4021 Headliner .

    Note: Remove the ten 8Y-5947 Fasteners that secure the headliner to the ROPS. Discard the fasteners.

  1. Install speakers (9) per Step 2.a through Step 2.c.

    1. Assemble each speaker (9) to a bracket (15) with four bolts (5). See Illustration 2.

      Tighten the bolts to a torque of 3.5 ± 0.5 N·m (2.5 ± 0.4 lb ft).

    1. Connect the wire leads from the 258-4101 Panel Harness As to the terminal for the speakers. Refer to Table 2.

    1. Attach each bracket (15) to the 258-4352 Plate with two bolts (3) and two hard washers (6). See Illustration 3.

  1. Reinstall the 258-4021 Headliner . Use ten new fasteners (7) for attaching the headliner to the ROPS. See Illustration 4.

  1. Place antenna (4), cable assembly (8), and harness (11) inside radio cover (13). See Illustration 5.

    Then, place spacer (12) inside radio cover (13) .

  1. Attach bracket (14) to the back of radio cover (13) with a fastener (7). See Illustration 6.

  1. Place radio cover (13) in position on the back of the 258-4433 Cab Liner Gp . Then, attach bracket (14) to the stud that is provided on the 258-4200 Canopy As with nut (1) and hard washer (2). See Illustration 7.

    Tighten the nut to a torque of 15 ± 3 N·m (11 ± 2 lb ft).
