Usage:
Start By:
a. Remove the implement pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Gear Pump (Implement)- Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
NOTE: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
NOTE: Put identification marks on the pump assembly for installation purposes.
1. Put the pump in position on wood blocks, as shown. Remove four bolts (1) and the washers. Remove adapter (2) from the pump assembly. Remove the O-ring seal from the adapter.
2. Turn the pump over. Remove eight bolts (4). Remove flange assembly (3).
3. Remove one lip seal (5), the retaining ring and the other lip seal from flange assembly (3).
4. Remove O-ring seal (10) and backup ring (8) from body assembly (6).
5. Note the location of the seal recess in pressure plate (7). The seal recess is towards the outlet side of the pump assembly. Remove pressure plate (7).
6. Remove O-ring seal (9).
7. Remove drive gear (11) and idler gear (12) from body assembly (6).
8. Note the location of the seal recess in pressure plate (13). The seal recess is towards the outlet side of the pump assembly. Remove pressure plate (13).
9. Remove backup ring (14) and O-ring seal (15) from body assembly (6).
