The ends of the bellows are very sharp. Injury could occur if the bellows are not handled properly. Handle the bellows by the convolutions. |
NOTICE |
---|
The bellows assembly must be supported always when the bellows assembly is not installed in the application. Failure to support the bellows assembly adequately could result in the failure of the bellows assembly. Do not use power tools to disassemble or assemble any part of the flexible exhaust system. The alignment of the bellows assembly is important. Incorrect alignment may lead to premature failure of the bellows assembly. Misalignment can be identified by visually inspecting the uniformity of the spacing between the convolutions on the bellows assembly. Inspect the bellows assembly for damage prior to installation. If there is any damage to the convolutions, discard the bellows assembly. If there is any difficulty in installation after the repair, discard the bellows assembly. |
- Disconnect spring assemblies (2) and (4).
- Remove heat shields (1) and (3).

Note: Do not reuse clamps (11), (10), and (7). Clamps (11), (10), and (7) is for one time use only.
- Use Tooling (B) to orient exhaust elbow (5) to angle approximately 32.8 degrees as shown in Illustration 9. Tighten one nut (6) to keep exhaust elbow (5) orientation in place. Angle may need to be readjusted to optimize alignment later.
- Apply Tooling (A) to the inner surface of ball clamps (7) and (10).
- Place ball clamp (10) on exhaust elbow (5) and ball clamp (7) on the Clean Emission Module inlet.
- Use the following steps to install the bellows assembly and slip tube (12).
- Install the bellows assembly and slip tube (12) as a unit between exhaust elbow (5) and the Clean Emission Module inlet. Align slip tube (12) to exhaust elbow (5) and then align the bellows assembly to the Clean Emission Module inlet.
