Tire and Rim - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".

Personal injury can result working with the tire and rim without precautions.

Personal injury can result if the weight shifts and causes movement of the tire and rim.

When starting nuts on the studs, do not put your arm between the rim and final drive without first wedging a block of oak between the rim and final drive.

  1. Block the rear tires in order to prevent movement of the machine.

  1. Raise the machine with a suitable lifting device. Support the machine with Tooling (A) and (B) .

  1. Support the tire and rim (1), as shown. Remove eight nuts (2). Use nylon strap (3) to secure the tire and the rim to the lift truck. Use lift truck (4) to remove the tire and the rim. The combined weight of the tire and the rim is 209 kg (461 lb).

Installation Procedure

    Note: The Machine may use plated hardware or non-plated hardware.

  1. Position the tire and rim (1), as shown. The combined weight of the tire and the rim is 209 kg (461 lb). Install eight bolts (2). The initial torque for non-plated bolts is 570 ± 80 N·m (420 ± 59 lb ft). The initial torque for plated bolts is 300 ± 40 N·m (221 ± 30 lb ft). Then turn bolts by an additional 60 ± 5 degrees. Remove nylon strap (3). Move lift truck (4) away from the tire and the rim. Repeat the same procedure for the other three wheels.

    Note: Do not mix hardware. Use only plated washers with plated bolts.

  1. Raise the machine with a suitable lifting device. Remove Tooling (A) and (B) .

End By: Disconnect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
