Start By:

  1. Remove the steering motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Motor - Remove".

  1. Mark four bolts (1) for installation purposes.

  1. Remove plate (4) from head (2) .

  1. If necessary, remove sleeve (6) and dowel (5) from head (2) .

  1. If necessary, remove flush valve (7) from head (2) . If necessary, remove the plug, O-ring (9) and valve assembly (8) from head (2) .

  1. Install Tooling (A) , as shown. If necessary, use a strap in order to support cylinder barrel (14) upward. Use Tooling (A) in order to push spacer (11) downward and compress spring (12) . Use Tooling (B) in order to remove snap ring (10) . Loosen the center screw of Tooling (A) and remove Tooling (A) .

  1. Remove four bolts (16) . Remove plate (17) , seven pistons (18) and seven retainers (19) as a unit from housing (3) .

  1. Remove O-ring (21) . Remove six bolts and washers (20) from cover (22) .

  1. Install Tooling (C) and remove cover (22) , seal (23) and ring (24) from housing (3) .

  1. If necessary, remove seal (25) from cover (22) .

  1. Apply heat to a temperature of 150° C (300.0° F) to set screws (26) and (27) . Remove the set screws from housing (3) .

  1. Use a soft faced hammer and tap on the end of input shaft (28) until there is clearance behind snap ring (29) .

  1. Use Tooling (D) and remove snap ring (29) from housing (3) .

    Note: In order to make correct adjustments for assembly, the original snap ring (29) or a new snap ring with the same thickness must be used.

  1. Use a soft brass drift in order to remove input shaft (28) from housing (3) . If necessary, use a suitable puller if the rotating group is tight in the housing.

  1. Pry out the indentation on spanner nut (30) . Use Tooling (E) and remove the spanner nut (30) from input shaft (28) .

  1. Install Tooling (M) and remove bearing (31) , spacer (32) and shims (33) from input shaft (28) .

  1. Remove bearing (34) from input shaft (28) .
