Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
High hydraulic system pressure. To avoid personal injury, do not remove any hydraulic system lines, taps, or parts until all pressure has been relieved. |
- Loosen nuts (1). Remove handles (2). Remove handle (3) .

- Remove bolts (4) from the top of the cover.

- Remove bolts (5) from the bottom of the cover.

- Remove the fifteen hose assemblies (6) from the pilot control valve.
Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires and on all tubes. This will aid in assembly.
Note: Plug and cap all lines, all hoses and all tubes. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.

- Disconnect wiring harness (7) .

- Remove four nuts (8) and the washers. Remove the pilot control valves.
