Start By:

  1. Remove the hoist control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hoist Control Valve - Remove". The information is in this manual.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Loosen retaining nuts (1), (2), (4) and (5) in order to disconnect hydraulic pipes (6) and (7) from valve body (3). Remove the O-rings from the pipes. Note the location of hydraulic pipes (6) and (7) for assembly purposes. Remove hydraulic pipes (6) and (7) from valve body (3).

  2. Remove the retainer clips from the hydraulic pipes.

  3. Remove two bolts (8) and remove actuator (9) from valve body (3).

  4. Remove two O-ring seals (10) from actuator (9). Remove the large O-ring seal from the center of actuator (9).

  5. Use Tooling (A) and a hydraulic press and exert downward pressure on retainer (12). Remove retainer ring (11) from actuator (9).

  6. Slowly release the pressure from the hydraulic press and release the spring tension from springs (13), (14) and (15) that are in actuator (9).

  7. Remove retainer (12), spring (13), spring (14), spring (15), spacer (18), control spool (17) and spring (16) from actuator housing (9).

  8. Remove six plugs (19) from valve body (9). Remove O-ring seals (20) from plugs (19).

  9. Remove four bolts (21) and remove solenoid (22) from actuator housing (9).

  10. Remove two straps (23) from the wires. Remove O-ring seal (24) from solenoid (22).

  11. Remove wedge (27) from receptacle assembly (26). Remove two pins (28) from receptacle assembly (26).

  12. Separate receptacle assembly (26) from wires (25).

  13. Remove two bolts (29) and remove actuator (30) from valve body (3).

  14. Remove two O-ring seals (31) from actuator (30). Remove the large O-ring seal from the center of actuator (30).

  15. Use Tooling (A) and a hydraulic press and exert downward pressure on retainer (33). Remove retainer ring (32) from actuator (30).

  16. Slowly release the pressure from the hydraulic press and release the spring tension from springs (34), (35) and (36) that are in actuator (30).

  17. Remove retainer (33), spring (34), spring (35), spring (36), stop (39), stop (40), control spool (38) and spring (37) from actuator housing (30).

  18. Remove four bolts (42) and remove solenoid (41) from valve body (30). Remove six plugs and the O-ring seals from valve body (30).

  19. Remove O-ring seal (43) from solenoid (41).

  20. Remove wedge (46) from receptacle assembly (47). Remove two pins (48) from receptacle assembly (47).

  21. Separate receptacle assembly (47) from wires (44). Remove two straps (45) from wires (44).

  22. Remove valve stem (49) from valve body (3). Note the orientation of valve stem (49) to valve body (3) for assembly purposes.

  23. Remove two bolts (50), the washers and manifold (51) from valve body (3).

  24. Remove O-ring seals (52) from valve body (3).

  25. Remove valve assembly (53) from valve body (3).

  26. Valve assembly (53) is disassembled in the following manner. Remove cap assembly (57) from valve body (60). Remove plate (56), pin (62), spring (61) and valve (55) from cap assembly (57) and from valve body (60).

  27. Remove O-ring seals (54) and (59) from valve body (60). Remove O-ring seal (63) from cap assembly (57). Remove nut (58) and retainer (64) from cap (57).

  28. Use Tooling (A) and a hydraulic press in order to remove seat (67), spring (66) and valve (65) from valve body (60).

  29. Remove valve assembly (68) and valve assembly (69) from valve body (3).

  30. Disassemble valve assembly (68) in the following manner. Remove retainer assembly (79), spring (75), plate (74) and valve (73) from valve assembly (72).

  31. Remove nut (77), O-ring seal (76) and washer (78) from retainer assembly (79). Remove O-ring seal (71) and O-ring seal (70) from valve assembly (72).

  32. Disassemble valve assembly (69) in the following manner. Remove valve housing (81) from valve assembly (80).

  33. Remove retaining ring (87) from valve assembly (83). Remove valve assembly (83) from valve housing (84). Remove nut (82) and washer (86) from valve assembly (83). Remove O-ring seals (85) from valve housing (84) and from valve assembly (83).

  34. Remove O-ring seal (88) and O-ring seal (89) from valve body (81). Remove valve (90) from valve body (81).

  35. Remove plug (91), the spring, the valve and the O-ring seal from valve body (3). Remove two test ports (92), plug (93) and the O-ring seals from valve body (3). Remove the O-ring seal from plug (93).

  36. Remove valve (94), spring (95) and O-ring seal (96) from plug (91).
