A New Fan Drive/Steering Pump Improves the Service Life {4306, 5070}

Description of Change: A new fan drive/steering pump is used to improve the performance of the system, the system reliability, and the service life. The new pump offers the following advantages over the existing pumps.
- The steering pump and the fan drive pump are combined into a single pump.
- The steering pump flow increased from 168 cc (10.25 in3) per revolution to 190 cc (11.6 in3) per revolution.
- The steering accumulator charging valve has been eliminated.
- The pump has an electronically controlled actuator that controls the swashplate angle and the pump flow.
- The accumulator pressure is now read by a sensor that is located at the accumulator.
- The sensed accumulator pressure is used by the logic that is within the chassis control software to control the cut-in pressure and cut-out pressure.
Adaptable To: The new 194-0436 Piston Pump (Fan Drive/Steering) replaces the former 178-7231 Piston Pump (Steering) and the former 187-9682 Piston Pump (Fan Drive). The new 194-0436 Piston Pump (Fan Drive/Steering) is effective with 797 (S/N: 5YW258) Off-Highway Truck.
