CID 0091 FMI 09 Position Sensor (Throttle) Abnormal Update - Test

Usage:

769C 01X
This diagnostic code is recorded when the ARC does not receive the throttle position signal. The diagnostic code is also recorded when the signal is abnormal. The electronic engine control sends the throttle position signal to the ARC over the data link.

Note: The ARC will record a diagnostic code of CID 0248 that is related to the data link after the ARC records a related diagnostic code of CID 0091.Clear the diagnostic code of CID 0248 after correcting and clearing the diagnostic code of CID 0091.

Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code of CID 0091 FMI 09 is present. The intermittent diagnostic code may be caused by a poor electrical connection of the data link if the diagnostic code is not present. Check the connectors of the machine harness.

The possible causes of the diagnostic code are listed below:

  • A faulty connection in the data link circuit

  • A problem still exists and/or the ARC is blank.

  1. INSPECT THE HARNESS CONNECTORS.

    1. Inspect the machine harness connectors that are related to the data link.

    1. Make sure that the connectors are clean and tight.

    1. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.

    1. Observe the active status of the diagnostic code of CID 0091 FMI 09.

Expected Result: The diagnostic code is NO longer active.

      Results:

      • OK: The diagnostic code is NO longer active. The connection of the machine harness was faulty. The diagnostic code is NOT present at this time. STOP.

      • NO: The diagnostic code remains active. Proceed to 2.

  1. CHECK THE CIRCUIT OF THE DATA LINK.

    1. Use the Electrical System Schematic in the Service Manual for the machine in order to check the data link circuit in the machine.

    1. The following wires of the machine harness should be checked for continuity and shorts: 893-GN-16 and 892-BR-16. Check the circuit from the ARC to the electronic engine control.

Expected Result: The data link circuit in the machine harness is correct.

      Results:

      • OK: The circuit of the data link circuit in the machine harness is correct. It is unlikely that the ARC or the electronic engine control is causing this diagnostic code. Check the diagnostics of the electronic engine control. Any diagnostic codes that are related to the data link should be corrected first. Replace the ARC if the cause of the diagnostic code is NOT found. See Testing And Adjusting, "ARC - Replace". STOP.

      • NO: The circuit of the data link in the machine harness is NOT correct. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness. STOP.
